PS3 Slim to Launch on August 18

A Belgian blog, RTLinfo, is reporting that Sony will soon be lowering the price on the European version of the PS3 from 399 euros to 299 euros.

This could well then result in the US console being reduced from $399 to $299 for the 80GB console.

They are also suggesting that Sony Playstation may announce the PS3 Slim at the Gamescom expo in Cologne, Germany at a pre-event press conference on August 18.

This is in part supported by the recent listing on Amazon Germany for a PlayStation 3 Konsole slim, and you don’t have to be able to speak German to work that one out.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was taken down pretty quickly.
