Sony PS3 Slim Console

News of a new Sony Playstation console is gathering momentum this week with numerous websites reporting on leaked photos from a Chinese factory of grainy images which are being suggested as being the moulds of a new Sony Playstation. The belief is that these images are of a new Playstation 3, possibly called the Sony PS3 Slim console.

These images may or may not be real but the story itself has a high degree of credibility as Sony have plenty of history of going slim. First there was the slimming of the PSOne, then the PS2 went on a diet and most recently there came the PSP Slim.

For obvious reasons, it is hard to be specific on what the PS3 Slim soecifications will be. However, if Sony are to encourage gamers to move the PS3 from being a bedroom console to the main blu-ray player and gaming console combo, they will have to improve the design and making it slim is clearly a huge step in the right direction.

Sony started the current PS3 off with 40GB, then increased this to 60GB before introducing a 80GB version. There have been plenty of rumours that Sony plan to launch a 160GB Playstation so the PS3 Slim console could, could, be the console that sees the 160GB become a reality.

As expected, Sony have only said that they don’t comment on rumours so we’ll just have to wait and see what gets announced this summer.
